3 Ways CBD can help with Mental Health

Jun 29, 2021CBD Oil For Stress & Anxiety

If you are reading this blog right now, chances are you are more than aware of the year we all have had. What we have experienced has been nothing short of challenging and thrown us all off balance a little.

Today we wanted to talk about Mental Health. A topic that maybe more than ever needs to be explored.  Mental Health has been on the rise especially after 2020, and 2021 hasn’t been the easiest either. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health problem or illness.

We are currently living in a world that is always changing. Where rules, concepts and information is new and we aren’t sure what to do, what to believe, or how to feel. For some mental health comes from an event that is traumatic or life changing (a year like 2020 will do this), for others it stems from childhood and repeating patterns that have to do with their environment.

Other causes of Mental Health included but aren’t limited to:

  • Social isolation or loneliness;
  • Experiencing discrimination and stigma;
  • Social disadvantage, poverty or debt;
  • Unemployment or losing your job;
  • Long term stress;
  • Physical ailments;
  • Losing someone close to you.

Every single one of these played a part in the past year and a bit.

We have all experienced life in a way we maybe didn’t think or feel we ever would. So the question now is… What do we do to help support the collective with moving forward after this?

As a brand we are passionate about helping others choose a holistic approach to supporting their health on all levels. Mental, Physical, Emotional, Spiritual.

We believe that CBD can be part of the mental health support kit for us all.

Of course if you are someone who uses medication or antidepressants, we would advise you to check with your doctor before switching or using CBD with your medication. Everyone is so different and it’s important to find the tools that work to support you. You can learn more about CBD oil and its interactions in this blog.

Below are some of the ways we believe that CBD would be of benefit in supporting mental health.

CBD helps to lower inflammation in the body

Inflammation has been found to trigger depression over long periods of time. CBD can act as a support to help lower the levels of inflammation in the body which will help with things like depression and heightened anxiety. In turn from lowering the levels of inflammation, the person might start to notice their sleep patterns changing to a deeper and more restful sleep.

It can be hard to fully get back to that state after such high levels of increased stress over time. Which is why we believe CBD oil would be a great little tool to add to your morning and bedtime routine.

CBD helps to balance cortisol levels

Cortisol is the stress hormone and when it’s high for long periods of time it can directly affect someone’s mental health. High levels of cortisol can lead to depression, anxiety, and other stress conditions.

CBD helps to lower the stress hormone and when this happens our bodies start to return to a place that isn’t a constant fight or flight situation. Our bodies start to get a break and begin to tell our minds “we are safe”.

Bottom line is that CBD will help restore our bodies natural rhythms and help restore balance in our internal worlds.

CBD is safe

Knowing that mental health can look different for everyone, we know that some people will require different tools to help them cope. CBD oil is one that is safe and holistic. CBD oil without THC doesn’t make you high, it simply acts as a way to lower the body’s reactive state in a healthy way. CBD oil is made from CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the hemp plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. It is safe to use and isn’t addictive.

CBD oil can be an incredible addition to help support you and your mental health as a proactive measure.
