How to Choose CBD Oil Properly

CBD oil has become an important addition to many people’s daily health regimens. CBD maintains a healthy body, and it also supports a healthy mind. In addition to this, CBD also helps relieve many symptoms.

There are many CBD products in the market so picking CBD oil can become a daunting task. Choosing CBD oil that is right for you can take some time, so we put together a blog post to help you figure it out.

This article guides you on how to choose CBD oil. There are a few main factors to consider – the type of CBD, what kind of product it is, lab tests as well as the source of CBD.

Knowing these helps you enjoy the CBD oil benefits offered by the product.

Types of CBD

So, what types of CBD are there and how many types of CBD are there?

CBD is just one cannabinoid and is an extract from hemp. It can come in various forms, depending on whether it is extracted as a single cannabinoid or as a group of cannabinoids. There are three main types of CBD on the market:

  • CBD Isolate

CBD isolate is simply one cannabinoid, CBD, which is then added to a product such as a carrier oil to create an isolate CBD oil. This type of CBD oil has no additional cannabinoids like THC, CBN, or CBG, and it also has no terpenes. It is perfect for people who want to avoid THC altogether.

  • Broad-Spectrum CBD

Unlike CBD isolate, this type of CBD contains extra cannabinoids. It may have CBN, CBG, CBC, and other cannabinoids. It also contains terpenes. What this doesn’t have is THC. When this type of CBD is diluted in a carrier oil like hemp oil, we call it broad-spectrum CBD oil.

  • Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

Similar to broad-spectrum CBD, this type of CBD oil contains additional types of cannabinoids and terpenes. What separates this from the former though is that it contains a small amount of THC. THC can add extra health benefits, especially when we are talking about pain and sleep. When this time of CBD is diluted in a carrier oil, we call it full-spectrum CBD oil.

These different types of CBD can be added to various products such as oils, vapes, topicals, edibles, and even dog treats. We recommend using CBD oils, taken sublingually since they have one of the quickest and highest absorptions.

CBD Source

When choosing CBD, the hemp and cannabis growing Canada cultivator or producer matters.

Below are some questions to ask the CBD producer:

  • Where did their CBD come from?
  • Is their CBD organic?
  • Did they use artificial pesticides and fertilizers?

Organic CBD in Canada can be sourced from marijuana and hemp. Hemp-derived CBD is available to all residents, while marijuana-derived CBD may only be available to adults of legal age and cannabis patients registered in the country’s medical marijuana program.

A truly organic CBD oil should come from pesticide-free, organically grown marijuana or hemp. It should not contain any traces of pesticides since these are potentially dangerous to the body.

All ICARIA products are made with organically grown North American hemp.

Laboratory Results for CBD Oil

Lab testing for CBD oil is equally important.

The laboratory tests look for residual solvents, toxic residues, traces of artificial pesticides and fertilizers, heavy metals, and harmful pathogens like fungus and bacteria. They also check the potency of the CBD products as well as their quality and safety. Lab results for THC may also be useful to measure the amount of THC in the product.

Don’t buy products without laboratory test results for CBD oil. CBD products that didn’t undergo laboratory testing or don’t have certificates of analysis may not be safe for consumption.

ICARIA puts its products through double laboratory tests – one of CBD itself and then of the final product to ensure the highest quality CBD product.

What’s the CBD Oil Dosage for Beginners?

Now that you know how to choose a good CBD oil, the next step is determining your CBD oil dosage daily.

As we always say, we are all very different and will need a different amount of CBD. However, there are general rules of thumps for the dosage.

Most CBD oil beginners’ guides and product instructions will tell you to take one full dropper each day. However, CBD comes in varying potencies. You’ll see 30 mL bottles that contain only 500 mg CBD, and you’ll also see organic CBD oil of 750mg as well as organic CBD oil of 1500mg. Some products offer extra strength like organic CBD oil 3000mg.

With these varying strengths, how do you take CBD oil for beginners then?

Experts say that for every 10 lbs of your total body weight, you can take 1 mg of CBD for mild symptoms. For moderate symptoms, we recommend taking 4 mg CBD for every 10 lbs of body weight. For severe symptoms, 8 mg for every 10 kg of body weight may help.

All this math is done for you on each of our product pages, but here is how it works. Let’s say for example you bought 1500 mg CBD in a 30 ml bottle. To get how much CBD is in one full dropper (which contains about 40 drops), divide 1500 by 30. This gives you 50 mg per one full dropper or 40 drops. Now, divide 50 by 40, and you’ll get 1.25 mg of CBD per drop.

Let’s say again that you weigh 150 lbs and want to use CBD for mild symptoms. Using the information above, you’ll need about 15 mg of CBD for mild symptoms. This translates to about 12 drops from your 1500 mg CBD oil.

You can follow this formula for your CBD oil dosage for the pain calculator, or you can always start with a lower CBD dose and then adjust accordingly.
If you didn’t feel any effects after about three to five days, then increase your dose. If you developed some side effects on that initial dose, then decrease your dose.

Just be patient and take your CBD dose regularly. You’ll soon find one that fits your needs.

You can also always get in touch with your doctor to get the best CBD oil dosage for anxiety in Canada or for other chronic health concerns.
